Liverpool Everyman rep alumni Matthew Kelly and George Costigan are set to reunite on stage at the Hope Street venue in 2026.
The pair will appear in Beckett’s Waiting for Godot at the theatre from March 17 to April 4 as part of a new season of shows announced for the Everyman and Playhouse today.
Kelly and Costigan last appeared on stage in the city together in Of Mice and Men at the Playhouse 22 years ago.
Both have visited the theatres since, with Kelly appearing in productions including Endgame and Twelfth Night at the Everyman and Pride and Prejudice and The Habit of Art at the Playhouse, and Costigan in Crime and Punishment at the Playhouse where he also originated the role of Mickey Johnstone in Blood Brothers in 1983.
Waiting for Godot is a co-production between the Everyman and Playhouse, Birmingham Rep and Bolton Octagon.

Other shows heading for the two theatres in the 2025-26 season include West End hit The Last Laugh – a play which reimagines comedy greats Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe and Bob Monkhouse; Susan Hill thriller The Woman in Black; imitating the dog with War of the Worlds, and the new Blur v Oasis play The Battle, starring Matthew Horne and described as a 'wickedly funny dive into one of the greatest rivalries in rock history', which comes to the Playhouse from the Birmingham Rep in May ahead of a West End run.
Meanwhile YEP graduate Lewis Ian Bray returns with his hit one-man show Cartoonopolis and there are a series of comedy one nighters from household names including Ardal O’Hanlon, Aisling Bea and Judi Love.
The shows are in addition to productions which have already been announced including Matthew Bourne’s The Midnight Bell, Lost Atoms, Breaking the Code, Little Women and – at the Everyman – a new version of Romeo and Juliet.
