Port Sunlight International Piano Festival brings top class talent to Wirral

Top flight talent from across the world will appear at a new piano festival being staged in Wirral next month.

The Port Sunlight International Piano Festival runs on the weekend of September 26-27. And all concerts will be free to attend.

The new festival is the brainchild of concert pianists William Bracken, who grew up in Wirral, and Alexia Daphne Eleftheriadou who are committed to bringing world-class music making to the village.

Concerts will be held in the Lady Lever Art Gallery from noon on both two days.

On Saturday, September 26, music lovers will be able to enjoy performances by Bracken and Eleftheriadou, who will appear as a piano duo; Elisabeth Tsai and Steven Osborne OBE.

Then on Sunday, September 27, the programme includes a piano and violin duo with Bracken and Sophie Prodanova and a performance by Kasparas Mikuznis before the weekend comes to a close with the Equilibrium String Quartet.

Bracken explains: “The festival aims to expose the community to musical excellence from all around the globe whilst keeping performances free to attend.

“It will also serve as a testament to the legacy of my grandmother Paula Browning, who was born in Taranaki, New Zealand and spent the last two decades of her life living on the Wirral.

“Herself a pianist of formidable ability and reputation, the festival is built on values that she held dear: curiosity, enthusiasm, exacting standards, work-ethic, pleasure and, above all, a deep love for music and an inexhaustible passion for sharing it with the community.”
