Liverpool Playhouse reveals its Spring 2018 season

Literary classics, family favourites, returning companies and comedy names are at the forefront of the new Liverpool Playhouse season.

Spring 2018 sees a host of adaptations of much-loved tales, including three from the Royal & Derngate Northampton. EM Forster’s A Passage to India is brought to the stage in collaboration with award-winning simple8; The Jungle Book sees the Northampton theatre teams up with Children’s Touring Partnership; and Agatha Christie’s Love From a Stranger is co-produced with the acclaimed Fiery Angel.

There is also a return for The Kite Runner, a co-production by the Everyman and Playhouse and Nottingham Playhouse, and Liverpool favourites Northern Broadsides present their own take on Dickens’ Hard Times, with Wirral actor/director Conrad Nelson at the helm.

Comedy comes from Mark Thomas, who brings his Palestinian-inspired Showtime From the Frontline show to the Playhouse for three nights, and Edinburgh award winner Bridget Christie who returns to Liverpool, this time with What Now? a look at the rolling news and its effect on our ability to enjoy the simple things in life.

The new season is kicked off by acclaimed theatre company Complicite and it’s funny and moving A Pacifist’s Guide to the War on Cancer.

And the already-announced Sting musical The Last Ship, starring Jimmy Nail, is brought to the Williamson Square theatre by Northern Stage.
