Albert Dock stages Heritage on the Dock

It’s been a busy few weeks for the Albert Dock, and the events just keep on coming.

This weekend the 170-year-old grade I listed attraction is playing host to Heritage on the Dock, part of the annual Heritage Open Days initiative.

The four-day festival features free talks, walks, workshops and live music around the waterfront venue.

Events and activities include a look at the marine life under the waters in the company of Lancashire Wildlife Trust, meeting the engineers on board the steamship Daniel Adamson, learning more about the historic Yarwood tug France-Hayhurst, taking tours of some of the buildings along the waterfront and travelling back in time on a classic Merseyside Transport Trust bus.

The Leather Satchel Co will also be opening its doors to reveal how its craftsmen create the coveted colourful bags.

Albert Dock chief executive Sue Grindrod says: “We introduced Heritage on the Dock to our events programme in 2016, part of our ongoing 175 strategy as we build up to celebrating Albert Dock’s 175th anniversary in 2021.

“Last year proved to be such a hit that we are excited to be able to bring it back this year bigger and better - now spanning four days, and for the first time, including our amazing partners across the wider waterfront, from Pier Head right up to Stanley Dock.”

Heritage on the Dock runs from September 7-10. More on the website HERE
