Step in to The Lost World with Illyria at Exchange Flags

Open air theatre experts Illyria return to Liverpool next weekend with a tall tale of explorers and prehistoric creatures.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World will be performed in the surroundings of Exchange Flags, just behind Liverpool Town Hall.

Audiences are being promised ‘monster laughs’ and life-size dinosaurs at the event on Sunday, August 13.

Four intrepid explorers, led by the redoubtable Professor Challenger, travel to an uncharted plateau in South America following a few scant directions scribbled in a sketch book.

They find flora and fauna beyond their wildest dreams, become involved in tribal warfare between ape men and indigenous humans, and encounter terrifying dinosaurs previously believed to be extinct.

But when their camera is destroyed in an accident what evidence can they produce to prove that these creatures actually exist?

Unless, of course, they bring live specimens back to London in “unbreakable” crates to reveal to an astounded public.

What could possibly go wrong?

The 3pm show is recommended for older children and their families and the running time is 1hour 50 minutes including an interval. Chairs are provided.

Tickets are £10 (adults), £6 (children) and £28 for a family ticket, via www.illyria.uk.com
