The Atkinson stages Polish Day to celebrate courage and devotion

The Atkinson in Southport is holding a special Polish Day next weekend.

The free event on Saturday, March 12 marks the final day of the venue’s popular Courage and Devotion exhibition which celebrates the lives of the Polish airmen who were stationed at RAF Woodvale in the Second World War.

It will include a host of family friendly events and activities, starting at 11am with a talk about Liverpool’s Western Approaches museum and the central role the historic site played in the Battle of the Atlantic.

The Military Vehicle Trust will be showcasing a number of vintage vehicles in front of The Atkinson as well as staging a Second World War British medical aid post in the foyer.

And the Polish Heritage Flight team will be on hand in the galleries to share stories of heroism with visitors.

There will also be talks, Polish food, craft sessions and traditional Polish dress to try on.

And the day finishes at 7pm when Andrew Wilde gives a recital of music by Chopin in The Studio. Tickets for the recital are £15 HERE
