The Choir With no Name returns to the Liverpool Everyman this July for its joyous annual ‘Big Gig’.
Poet Joseph Roberts will be special guest at the event on Saturday, July 18 which promises to be an uplifting and unforgettable night of music, verse and community.
Fellow local choir Indigo Vibe will also take part.
The Choir With no Name (CWNN) involves people who are impacted by homelessness or marginalisation, and it meets weekly in the city centre to sing, build confidence and share a meal together. Its repertoire spans pop, rock, soul, gospel and reggae to musicals favourites.
Liverpool is one of eight similar choirs across the country, with the city's chorus founded in 2014. It offers a supportive, safe space for people to be among friends, have fun and build skills to take into everyday life.
Profits from the Big Gig will go towards the cost of keeping the CWNN Liverpool’s weekly choir rehearsal running.
Joseph Roberts will perform poems from his debut poetry album A Whole New Meaning Vol 1, while Indigo Vibe will perform hits spanning soulful pop, blues, jazz, rock and R&B.
CWNN Liverpool interim choir manager, Sonia Chapman, says: “Our ‘Big Gig’ is one of the highlights of our performance calendar and we’re looking forward to once again taking to the stage of the Everyman to sing our hearts out and spread love, joy and a sense of togetherness.
“We’re excited to have Liverpool poet Joseph Roberts and Indigo Vibe joining us as well and look forward to welcoming people for a fantastic uplifting evening and a big summer celebration.”
