Liverpool Empire date for Girl From The North Country
Girl From the North Country is making its debut at the Liverpool Empire next year as part of a national tour.
Conor McPherson’s acclaimed musical, which is packed with reimagined versions of Bob Dylan songs, will be at the Lime Street Theatre from January 10-14.
It’s 1934 in the heart of America, and we meet a group of wayward souls who cross paths in an old guesthouse. Standing at a turning point in their lives they realise nothing is as it seems.
But as they search for a future, and hide from the past, they find themselves facing unspoken truths about the present.
The Olivier Award-winning musical was premiered at the Old Vic in 2017 and transferred to the West End as well as crossing the Atlantic to play Off-Broadway. It was a week into its full Broadway run in March 2020 when the pandemic struck.
It features a soundtrack which includes I Want You, Forever Young and Like a Rolling Stone as well as the title number, all backed by period instruments from the 1930s.
Conor McPherson’s other work includes The Weir and The Seafarer.
Girl From the North Country comes to the Liverpool Empire from January 10-14, 2023. Tickets HERE
