Eric Clapton to play Liverpool arena in 2024

Superstar Eric Clapton will play a date at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena next year as part of what is being described as a limited run of ‘exclusive shows’.

The guitar legend comes to the city’s waterfront venue on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Tickets cost from £89 to £117.75.

Clapton started his career at 18 in 1963 when he joined The Yardbirds as lead guitarist, soon becoming one of the most talked-about guitarists on the 60s music scene.

After a short stint in John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, in 1966 he joined forces with Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce in Cream and in the late 1960s also played guitar on George Harrison’s songs including, famously, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and performed as part of John Lennon’s Plastic Ono Band.

His next group, formed in 1969, was Blind Faith, followed by Derek and the Dominoes, while in the 1970s and 80s he forged a successful career as a singer-songwriter solo artist.

The multi-award winning musician has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on three occasions (with the Yardbirds and Cream and as a solo artist) and was made a CBE in the 2004 New Year’s Honours.
