Lady Lever Art Gallery to reopen to visitors after six months
The Lady Lever Art Gallery is set to reopen to visitors at the end of this month as National Museums Liverpool brings its final venues back to life.
The Port Sunlight attraction will be joined by Sudley House in Mossley Hill and Seized! – the Border & Customs uncovered gallery at the Maritime Museum in opening their doors on Wednesday, September 30.
NML has previously reopened the Walker Art Gallery and World Museum in William Brown Street, and the Maritime Museum and Museum of Liverpool on the waterfront. All the venues were shut in March because of the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
The Lady Lever, Sudley House and Seized will be open from 10am to 5pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
Entry is by pre-booked timed ticket and visitors must wear face coverings. NML members will be able to book from September 21, and tickets go on general release from September 25.
Two new exhibitions will also open – the delayed German Revolution Expressionist Prints at the Lady Lever, which runs from October 2, and Home and Away, featuring oil paintings of both foreign and local views, at Sudley House.

NML director Laura Pye said: “Having all our venues open again will be a really special moment for us and our visitors and one that our staff have been working tirelessly towards since lockdown began. Our visitors are the beating heart of our venues, and it’s been difficult seeing our galleries and museums empty.
“The Lady Lever has a Wedgwood jasperware collection and Pre-Raphaelite paintings that are internationally-renowned, and Sudley House - one of the few Victorian period homes that still retains many of its original features - also houses an outstanding art collection including paintings by Turner, Romney and Gainsborough.
“To have these important venues open again so visitors can access their superb collections for free will be a massive boost for everyone and having Seized! and our incredible archives back on offer too is the icing on the cake.”
