Everyman and Playhouse plans an A-Z of Hope

Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse is giving members of the public a chance to get involved in an online ‘A-Z of Hope’.

People are being invited to submit stories or memories to the theatres’ Love, Liverpool project, described as a ‘digital journey’ through the city region.

Submissions will be incorporated into a weekly series of letters to Liverpool which will use audio, video and the written word to take readers to a different geographical location each time – and will be filled with “a tapestry of memories and feelings attached to the streets of the city”.

The selected stories will join commissioned work by Liverpool artists including Luke Barnes, Amina Atiq, Mandy Redvers-Rowe and Chloë Moss. Each artist will use a monologues included in the letters to take audiences to a spot in Liverpool that is important to them.

Friends of the Everyman & Playhouse will also make an appearance providing ‘picnics’ – insights from famous faces that may be a recipe, an anecdote of Liverpool or just a message of love to the city.

Everyman and Playhouse artistic director Gemma Bodinetz said: “With our buildings in lockdown we wanted to create an opportunity to interact with our audiences, communities and artists.

"Love, Liverpool is a digital project that we hope the whole city will want to enjoy.

“It’s a digital geographic journey of memories through the city and along the route we’ve asked some rather special people to provide some digital picnics and literary inspiration.”

Submissions are open until 5pm on May 13. Anyone who wants to take part will need to submit a short summary of a story, monologue or poem about Liverpool HERE.
