RLPO cancels all concerts until end of June

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic has cancelled all its classical music concerts until the end of June.

The Phil closed its doors last month after the Government issued advice to people to avoid attending theatres and other arts venues due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Now it is contacting ticketholders to confirm that concerts in the Philharmonic Hall, Music Room and St George’s Hall Concert Room due to take place up to and including June 30 will not go ahead.

They include Petrenko’s Mahler VI and VII, Sheku Plays Saint-Saëns and the Verdi Requiem as well as dementia friendly and family concerts, and a ‘discover the classics’ morning on June 13.

Concertgoers will be offered the choice of donating the full or partial cost of their tickets to the Phil, requesting a credit for the value of the tickets to use on another future Liverpool Philharmonic event or a full refund.

A statement on the website says: “Liverpool Philharmonic's mission is predicated on bringing people together for shared musical experiences; it’s disheartening to put on hold what we do best.

“We would like to apologise to those who have been affected by our closure and thank audiences for their understanding.”
