Nile Rodgers and CHIC to headline LIMF 2019

Disco superstars and funk legends Nile Rodgers and CHIC will headline this year’s Liverpool International Music Festival in Sefton Park.

The influential multi award-winning American musician, songwriter and producer returns to the city after appearing at the then Echo Arena in 2017 as part of Liverpool Music Week.

He is also a LIPA Companion.

Rodgers and CHIC will headline on the main stage on Saturday, July 20.

They join the already confirmed De La Soul, SIGMA and Disco Classical, while special guest Sister Sledge featuring Kathy Sledge will close the festival on the Sunday night, July 21.

Organisers say this latest announcement means both nights of LIMF will feature some of the world’s best feel-good dance music.

Meanwhile Rodgers said today: “Liverpool has been the site of some of my greatest moments as an artist from our triumphant concerts there, where we are made to feel like we are from Anfield or Old Swan to being honoured by Sir Paul McCartney at LIPA.

“We can’t wait to be back to Merseyside not once, but twice this summer.”

CHIC and Nile Rodgers fans can also catch them at Haydock Racecourse later this month.

The LIMF weekend also features chart-topper Ella Eyre, multi-Grammy nominee Kenny Dope and an exclusive 3Beat @ 30 30th Anniversary live performance featuring two-time Brit nominees and platinum-selling SIGMA, along with M-22, Geko and Anton Powers. Rising stars at the festival include NAO, SG Lewis, Grace Carter and Kara Marni, as well as local talents LUNA, Raheem Alameen and KYAMI of the festival’s talent development programme, LIMF Academy. This year’s LIMF is sponsored by Liverpool Gin.

LIMF is in Sefton Park on July 20-21. Day tickets cost £11 or £26 for VIP admission and under 12s go free. For more details and tickets visit the website HERE
