Unity Theatre unveils its 2018 autumn season
The Unity Theatre’s autumn season features a programme of work that looks to the future and questions what might be in store.
Season highlights under new artistic director Gordon Millar include a five-night stay for Liverpool favourites Headlong, a return to Hope Place by Told By An Idiot, and a visit by acclaimed company Paines Plough.
Tmesis Theatre (Beyond Belief) and Break a Leg Productions (Blood Runs Deep) are also set to appear at the venue between now and Christmas.
Headlong, in association with Birmingham Repertory Theatre, presents Meek from September 10-15. The dystopian drama comes from Fringe First-winning playwright Penelope Skinner.
Told by an Idiot brings Leo Butler’s All You Need is LSD, being staged from October 16-20, and Paines Plough makes a one-night stop at the theatre on October 30 with Pop Music, a three-decade journey through the world of pop.
There is comedy from Justin Moorhouse, Zoe Lyons and Gary Delaney (the latter already a sell-out), while Homtopia, DaDaFest and The Arena Theatre present Mop the House: A Short Guide to Vogue on November 15-16.
DaDaFest is also involved in this year’s Christmas show, which sees Action Transport Theatre join forces with the Unity once again, this time to tell the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast in unexpected fashion.
