The Ruby Slippers comes to Royal Court Liverpool

Love, sexuality, tested loyalties and high heels combine in a hit comedy set in a drag club which returns to the Liverpool stage this week.

The Ruby Slippers was premiered at the Lantern Theatre in 2016 and was also performed in the West End.

Now Emma Culshaw and David Paul’s comedy is coming to The Studio at the Royal Court as part of this year’s Liverpool Pride.

Life is a drag at The Ruby Slippers, Blackpool’s struggling cabaret drag club.

Owner Raz thinks he has met the man of his dreams in barman and flatmate Ryan - played by Emmerdale’s Kurtis Stacey (pictured above). But is that about to change when Ryan confesses he has been hiding a secret – that he wants to become a woman?

Their relationship is put to the test as Ryan deals with the struggles of transitioning to Rachel.

On top of that a rival club has opened which threatens to not only steal Raz’s customers but also his star acts – the hilarious and outrageous drag queens Phoenix and Destiny.

Can true love overcome? Will Phoenix and Destiny leave The Ruby Slippers and join its rival?

The show, from Break a Leg Productions in association with Bill Elms, also stars James Rogerson, Owen Richard Farrow, Debra Redcliffe, Emma Vaudrey and Jordan Simms.

The Ruby Slippers is at The Studio at Royal Court Liverpool from July 24-28. Tickets from the website HERE
