ChoirFest sings the praises of St Bride's Church

July 12, 2018

ChoirFest returns to St Bride’s Church in Liverpool this weekend.

Seven choirs will compete in the friendly singing contest at the historic Percy Street church on Saturday.

Choirs taking part include The H’arts and Voices, Liverpool’s Royal Court Community Choir, St Anne’s School Choir, Sunlight Unplugged, Serendipity and Liverpool Show Choir.

Audiences will be encouraged to sing along with a group song for choirs and audiences to perform together at the end of the day.

The event also features a Summer Fair with a St Bride’s Bake Off, with this year’s cake-making competition sponsored by Olive restaurant.

All proceeds from the 10am to 4pm event will go directly to the Save Our St Bride’s campaign, set up to raise vital funds for the renovation and running costs of the Georgian Quarter church.

Emma Dears, who launched the Save Our St Bride’s campaign, said: “ChoirFest and the Summer Fair will be a great, fun family day out. Although there is an aspect of competition to the day the main agenda is fun and fundraising.

“All the money raised will go to St Bride’s and will help to sustain the wonderful work it does within the community.

“St Bride’s is used as a performance space and currently has three choirs that use the building as their practice space, it seemed like an obvious choice to utilise our choir-based connections when fundraising.”
