Liverpool Cathedral a stage for new choral theatre
Music and theatre are combining in a new production being staged at Liverpool Cathedral next month.
Cut To The Chase Productions is behind Through the Wilderness, which tells the universal story of the quest for meaning.
A man leaves his home, family and everything that is familiar to him to go in search of something he can't name, in what is being described as "a kind of journey of the soul for 21st century Britain."
Composer John Browne and director/producer Jen Heyes have created the choral theatre piece, and the score - featuring organ, piano, percussion and bells - merges mystical and earthbound mus
There will also be a sacred choir, choir of vulnerable adults, and a community choir - and producers are inviting people to get involved and sing in the community choir. Anyone interested should email info@cuttothechaseproductions.co.uk
John's other work includes the music for The Suppliant Women, which got five star reviews when it was staged at Manchester Royal Exchange recently, and he will also be working at The Young Vic later this year.
Choreography for the show comes from Jo Blowers and Mary Prestidge.
