Up Next at the Unity - a celebration of new work


The Up Next Weekender returns to the Unity Theatre showcasing new work from Merseyside creatives.

This year the ‘weekender’- which is part of Unity’s Open Call programme - is actually spread across two different dates; the first on September 16-17 and the next from October 13-15.

Festivalgoers can book tickets for individual performances, costing £8, or buy a festival pass for £25 allowing access to all the shows taking place over one weekend.

Five performances take place during the September weekender.

On Friday, September 16 catch Headstrung presenting Mirror Mirror, and Jay Farley presenting Beyond Binary.

Then on Saturday, September 17 catch Marcella Rick with Potato Milk, Isobel Campbell presenting You Are My Sunshine, and Brodie Arthur’s Family Healing.

Meanwhile six Merseyside artists will stage shows during the October weekender.

Paul Betney appears on Thursday, October 13 with Old Dog, New Tricks, while on Friday, October 14 Frankie Blaus presents Darling, Leave the Light On and Benjamina Albenese performs Beyond the Frame.

And on Saturday, October 15, there’s a chance to catch Beth Westbrook’s Awareness, Daniel Start’s Remember That You Loved Someone, and Ariana Sansone’s show Body.

Along with performances both weekends include music, Q&As and other festival fun as well as a well-stocked Unity bar.
