Back to the Future the Musical is heading for Liverpool as part of its inaugural tour – but fans will have to be patient as it won’t be here until 2027.
The smash hit show, based on the classic 1985 film, is set to come to the Liverpool Empire for four weeks from January 12 that year.
Tickets are on sale to ATG+ Members now and go on general sale this Wednesday, September 8 at 10am.
When teenager Marty McFly is accidentally sent back to 1955 in a time machine built by the eccentric Doc Brown, he disrupts the space-time continuum and must race against the clock to put things right – and get back to the future.
Back to the Future the Musical has been seen by more than four million people worldwide since it was premiered in Manchester in February 2020. Its planned run was curtailed by the Covid pandemic, and when theatres reopened the show transferred to the Adelphi in the West End where it has run ever since. A separate production opened on Broadway in 2023.
Winner of an Olivier for Best New Musical as well as WhatsOnStage Awards and Broadway World Awards, Back to the Future the Musical is brought to the stage by the film’s original creators Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis.
It has a book by Gale and new music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard, with additional songs from the film including The Power of Love and Johnny B Goode.
The touring production will be directed by Tony Award-winning director John Rando (Urinetown, On The Town), alongside the multi Tony and Olivier Award-winning design team of Tim Hatley (set and costume design), Chris Bailey (choreography), Chris Fisher (illusions), Tim Lutkin and Hugh Vanstone (lighting), Gareth Owen (sound) and Finn Ross (video), with musical supervision and arrangements by Nick Finlow.
Back to the Future the Musical is at the Liverpool Empire from January 12 to February 6, 2027. Tickets HERE
