Liverpool announces new Eurovision celebrations for 2024

Eurovision celebrations are set to continue in Liverpool this May as Sweden stages the 2024 song contest.

Liverpool Loves Eurovision will include a series of events for Eurovision fans from home and abroad who aren’t able to get to Malmö which is hosting this year’s competition.

They include Malmö on the Mersey on Saturday, May 11, taking place on the site of the M&S Bank Arena, and billed as the UK’s biggest Grand Final screening party.

Organisers Liverpool City of Music and OGAE, the world’s largest Eurovision fan network, the evening will include live performances and Eurovision surprises ahead of the screening itself.

There is also the return of EuroClub to Camp and Furnace, with screening parties for both semi-finals on May 7 and 9, and the Grand Final on May 11, the latter followed by a ‘Eurovision-sized after party’.

Meanwhile Liverpool Calling at St George’s Hall will screen the final in style.

There will also be a series of music and performances on the city’s streets, while Liverpool bars and restaurants are being encouraged to get involved to create a Eurovision atmosphere.

And the city’s relationship with Ukraine will also be reflected with plans to offer tickets to local displaced Ukrainians, as well as bringing back some of the Ukrainian acts which performed here in 2023.

Sweden’s entry Tattoo, sung by Loreen, won last year’s competition, which was held by Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine.

More details on the Liverpool events and how to get tickets will be announced next week.
