Ladyfriends tours to Shakespeare North Playhouse

Confetti, PowerPoints – and power ballads – are all on the cards when a new touring show arrives at Shakespeare North Playhouse next week.

Ladyfriends (a period drama), from Manchester-basedwriter/director Clodagh Chapman, plays the Prescot venue’s Studio space on March 23-24.

Annie and Christabel are dating. Historians dispute this on the grounds of 'inaccuracies' and 'lack of scholastic rigour' and 'the over-interpretation of the fact that women shared bedrooms'.

Ladyfriends is a high-octane romp through love letters, third dates, and lesbian period dramas - via the (probably) true stories of Annie Kenney and Christabel Pankhurst.

Full of live music and film, it asks the age-old question: "are we dating, or are we just really good friends?”

The show, which stars Ellie Mejia and Lucy Mackay, is presented by Sarah Allen Productions in collaboration with Misscoteque, and is supported through National Lottery/Arts Council funding.

Ladyfriends (a period drama) is at Shakespeare North Playhouse on March 23-24 and is suitable for audiences aged 14 and up. Tickets HERE
