Heathers reduces Liverpool Empire run due to covid case in company

Heathers the Musical has been forced to cancel the first five nights of its Liverpool run because of a Covid case in the company.

The show was due to visit the Liverpool Empire from August 17-28.

But now its revised run will see the cast perform eight shows over six days from Monday, August 23 to Saturday, August 28.

Anyone with tickets for the opening week will be contacted by the theatre.

The tour has also had to cancel the remainder of its dates at Leeds Grand Theatre this week.

The decision was made after an unnamed member of the company returned a positive Covid test.

A statement from the show on Twitter said: “In line with current Government COVID guidelines, performances of Heathers UK Tour have been cancelled through to August 21.”

The all-singing, all-dancing stage version of the hit 1989 teen film – which starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater – is set at Westerberg High where the school is ruled by a wealthy and beautiful but cruel clique of ‘Heathers’.

Veronica Sawyer is just another nobody dreaming of a better day. But when she helps out the Heathers and is elevated to their ranks as a reward, her dreams of popularity may finally come true.

However, mysterious teen rebel JD teaches her that it might kill to be a nobody, but it is murder being a somebody.

Heathers is now at the Liverpool Empire from August 23-28. Tickets HERE
