Floral Pavilion to stage Folk on the Coast festival

The Floral Pavilion is staging a new three-day folk festival this September.

Folk on the Coast, running from September 13-15 at the New Brighton waterfront theatre, will feature headline names including the acclaimed Martin Carthy, master musician Martin Simpson and multi award-winning contemporary folk artists Jackie Oates and John Spiers.

The satirical Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican and singer-songwriter Martyn Joseph are also set to appear.

Other acts which have been announced are Jon Wilks, Mikey Kenney, Gilmore & Roberts, Joe Topping, James Delarre & Saul Rose and Jack Rutter, with more to be revealed.

And along with live performances throughout the Floral Pavilion site over the weekend festival there will also be exhibitions, workshops, fringe events and VIP experiences.

Floral Pavilion manager Pauline Campbell said today: “We’re so excited to see the venue come alive with folk music.

“We’re proud to launch a festival that celebrates the genre and provides a welcome and immersive space. With a beautiful coastal backdrop and world- renowned artists, it is going to be a weekend to remember.”

First release VIP weekend passes, costing £115, are now on sale and along with entry to all the events they include 10 percent off refreshments and priority booking for workshops and meet-and-greet opportunities.

After June 9, weekend passed will cost £130 but will not include the money off or priority booking.

Day passes and individual ticket prices will be released closer to the festival dates.
