Eurovision comes to 'Late at Tate' on Royal Albert Dock

Tate Liverpool is marking Eurovision coming to the city with a special free ‘Late at Tate’ event next month.

The Royal Albert Dock attraction will throw open its doors for the Spirit of Eurovision evening on Thursday, May 4.

It forms part of Liverpool’s EuroFestival of events and commissions which is accompanying the city hosting the 67th Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of last year’s winners Ukraine.

The Spirit of Eurovision will feature live music, performances, talks and workshops inspired by the unifying power of music and creativity behind the annual song content.

Young creatives from the University of Salford will present a fashion showcase featuring their designs that take inspiration from the extravagant and fabulous costumes worn by Eurovision contestants.

And as part of Tate Liverpool’s Home from Home programme, Ukrainian migrants will take the lead in discussions and interpretations of artwork from the Tate collection that has either inspired or provoked them, providing visitors with an opportunity to hear their unique perspectives.

Meanwhile Tate Liverpool is one of a host of venues in the city planning to screen the Eurovision grand final on Saturday, May 13. Premium tickets are already sold out but more 'Standard Experience' tickets are due to be released soon.

The Spirit of Eurovision takes place at Tate Liverpool on May 4 from 6-10pm and is free. More HERE
