Dreamgirls celebrate Christmas at the Liverpool Empire

Dreamgirls is coming to the Liverpool Empire for Christmas 2021.

The lavish, multi award-winning West End smash hit musical was initially due to make its Lime Street debut this February.

Now it will be staged at the theatre from December 14 to January 1.

Tickets are on sale from 10am tomorrow, April 27.

This is the second year the Empire will have planned to host a stage spectacular rather than traditional panto. Meatloaf musical Bat Out of Hell was due to be the Christmas 2020 show until the Covid pandemic struck.

Dreamgirls tells the story of three talented young singers – Effie, Lorrell and Deena – making their way against the revolutionary musical backdrop of 1960s America.

Join the three friends as they embark upon a musical rollercoaster ride through a world of fame, fortune and the ruthless realities of show business, testing their friendships to the very limit.

The production features songs including Listen, And I am Telling You I’m Not Going, I am Changing and One Night Only.

The musical was first premiered on Broadway in 1981, and in 2006 it was made in to a film starring Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson who won an Oscar for her performance as Effie White.

ITV’s The Voice finalist 2019 Nicole Raquel Dennis will play Effie with more casting to be announced.

Dreamgirls is at the Liverpool Empire from December 14 2021 to January 1 2022. Tickets from April 27 HERE
