Boys From the Blackstuff returns to Liverpool stage

Royal Court Liverpool’s smash hit production of Boys From the Blackstuff returns to the theatre this spring ahead of its London premiere at the National Theatre.

The stage version of Alan Bleasdale’s seminal 1980s series – from the pen of award-winning playwright James Graham – was a sell-out success when it was staged at the Roe Street venue last autumn.

Now it is set to return from April 19 to May 11, before transferring to the National's Olivier Theatre on May 22 for a limited two-week run. Tickets for the Liverpool dates go on sale from 11am today.

The original cast will return with the production, which is again directed by Kate Wasserberg.

Royal Court executive producer Kevin Fearon said: “In 18 years of producing theatre by and for Liverpool, shows haven't come any bigger than Boys from The Blackstuff. To be able to bring this fantastic piece of work back to the Court before it transfers to the National is as exciting as much as it is a real honour.”
