Bouncers enjoy a Boisterous Royal Court Liverpool return

John Godber’s comedy classic Bouncers has returned to the Royal Court stage.

Liverpool's Boisterous Theatre had a big hit with Maurice Bessman’s energetic ‘urban remix’ adaptation of the smash hit show in 2018.

And now they’re back on the main stage for another memorable night on the tiles with Ralph, Les, Judd and Lucky Eric – the eponymous bouncers of the title.

The 2018 cast, featuring Mutty Burman, Michael Horsley, Zain Salim and Joe Speare, also returns and there is a guest appearance from Liverpool club favourite DJ Spycatcha.

The show also includes an up-to-the minute soundtrack.

Technically gifted with their compulsory security training badges stuck firmly on their arms, wired up with digital headsets linked back to ‘control’, our 21st Century ‘door supervisors’ face the nightly tension of what they’ve been trained to do – customer service - and what their common sense is telling them to do….sort it out quickly.

Boisterous co-founder Miriam Mussa, who is directing and producing, says: “The show was a huge hit last time, and we can’t wait to bring it back.

“We want Boisterous to provide an ambitious platform and progressive route for actors, writers, directors and producers from the BAME community. It’s something that I have been passionate about for a long while and we hope to create something special with the support of the Royal Court.

“It’s an opportunity to widen representation across the cultural sector by creating employment, mentoring and training opportunities within the arts.”

Boisterous Theatre is supported by the Royal Court thanks to the latter’s status as an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation.

Bouncers runs at Liverpool's Royal Court until September 11. Tickets from the website HERE
