Beatles Story reveals special Beatleweek events

John Lennon’s sister Julia Baird will appear at The Beatles Story as it hosts a series of events in August to coincide with International Beatleweek.

The events are set to take place in the Discovery Zone and Fab4 Café at the Royal Albert Dock attraction between August 20-27.

On August 20, ahead of the annual Fab For festival, The Beatles Story’s Nick Hale will read extracts of Lennon’s work in the Fab4 Café and Julia Baird will provide insights into the meaning of his words and his life at the time he wrote them.

There will also be live music and cocktails at the lunchtime event My Brother the Poet, and the chance to meet Baird and buy a signed copy of her book Imagine This, a story of Lennon’s childhood.

Then at lunchtime on August 25, the Fab4 Café hosts live music from Canadian/UK/US tribute band The Global Beatles and Merseybeat’s Mike Byrne & The Sunrockers.

Visitors can also get a copy of The Birth of the Beatles signed by Byrne and fellow author Bernadette Byrne who was a Cavern regular who went out with both George and Paul.

And on August 27 there is a free, day-long Open Mic and The Beatles Story pub quiz, packed with music and talks along with the chance to show off your talents. And the winners of the quiz – which starts at 4.30pm – will receive a gift hamper of Beatles’ goodies.

This year’s International Beatleweek, organised by the Cavern, runs from August 23-29. Details HERE
