Drive In For Live Music at Liverpool Central Docks

Liverpool Central Docks will host a series of ‘drive-in’ live music shows this summer with big names performing on the city’s waterfront.

Utilita Live From the Drive-In will see major household names from Gary Numan, Tony Hadley and The Zutons to Dizzee Rascal, Beverley Knight and K T Tunstall.

Central Docks are one of 12 UK locations for the special series of shows arranged by Live Nation to keep music going during the coronavirus pandemic.

Audiences will enjoy shows from the comfort of their own private viewing zones next to their cars – with each zone appropriately distanced from one another.

Only around 300 cars will be allowed on site for each show, and tickets for many of the shows are now on sale.

The season kicks off with Cream Classical Ibiza from Thursday, July 23 to Saturday, July 25, with five separate sessions over the three days.

Tony Hadley brings his distinctive vocals to the waterfront location on Sunday, July 26.

The Mersey Beatles will also play at the Liverpool event – believed to be the only major Beatle-related performance in the UK this summer – on July 26, taking to the stage at 9pm.

On Friday, July 31, the afternoon will see wild fun from Brainiac Live while The Streets will take to the stage at the Liverpool Waters venue in the evening.

The Mersey Beatles

Steven Howard, who appears as Paul McCartney in The Mersey Beatles, said: “July 26 is going to be an incredibly special night on the banks of the River Mersey here in our home city.

“Like all bands we saw all our touring plans for 2020 – which included shows across Europe, America and Australia – halted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Utilita Live From The Drive In is a brilliant concept by Live Nation and we are thrilled to be part of it.”

Unfortunately SIX the Musical has cancelled its touring shows over concerns about local lockdowns in parts of the country.
