Chester Literature Festival returns to Storyhouse for 2020

Chester Literature Festival returns to Storyhouse this autumn and the first names have been revealed for the popular annual spoken and written word event.

Poet John Cooper Clarke, actor Trevor Eve and lexicographer Susie Dent are among the line-up for the 2020 festival which takes place in November.

Henry Normal and ‘dinosaur aficionado’ Dr Ben Garrod are also set to appear.

Trevor Eve will be joined by his wife, actress Sharon Maugham, at the Storyhouse Theatre on Sunday, November 8 to read from and talk about his debut novel, the noir thriller Lomita for Ever, and also share stories from his long and varied stage and screen career.

The event will include an audience Q&A and a book signing.

Expect an evening of pure escape with stories, jokes and poems from writer, poet and TV and film producer Henry Normal in the Garret Theatre on Thursday, November 12. The event will feature favourite verse from his BBC Radio 4 series and his seven poetry collections.

Ben Garrod brings his hit stage show So You Think You Know About Dinosaurs? to the Hunter Street venue on Saturday, November 14.

Countdown wordsmith Susie Dent presents The Secret Life of Words on Monday, November 16, taking her audience on a journey into the curious, unexpected, and downright surreal origins of the words we use every day.

And the unique and unmissable Dr John Cooper Clarke performs poetry from his latest collection, The Luckiest Guy Alive, along with classic verse and ‘hilarious ponderings on modern life’ on Wednesday, November 18.
