OMD among headliners at Wirral Food and Music festival 2020
Music will fill Birkenhead Park this summer with the return of Wirral’s popular food, drink and music festival.
The three-day festival, which runs from September 4-6, will feature three of the biggest names in Merseyside music.
Wirral’s finest The Coral will headline a show on Friday, September 4, while Echo and the Bunnymen will be centre stage on Saturday, September 5.
And on Sunday, September 6 the event will culminate with a rare public performance from Wirral superstars Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.
Over the past four decades, the purveyors of synth pop have sold an impressive 25 million singles and 15 million albums worldwide.
The September gig will be their first ever full four-piece band concert in Wirral, and they will celebrate with all their hits including Enola Gay, Souvenir, Sailing on the Seven Seas and Electricity.
The band will be supported by pioneers of the 1980s art-indie scene Pete Wylie & The Mighty WAH!
The evening concerts will accompany a two-day food and drink festival which takes place in the park on September 5-6 and which promises to showcase the best of Wirral’s produce.
Cllr Christine Spriggs, Wirral Council Cabinet Member for Culture and Tourism, said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome the return of the Wirral Food, Drink and Music Festival to historic Birkenhead Park again this year.
“It is, quite simply, one of the key events of 2020 and an important legacy of our year as Borough of Culture. “
Tickets are available from the Visit Wirral website HERE including a VIP upgrade option.
