BOST sings A Christmas Carol at Royal Court Liverpool

A Christmas Carol – the musical comes to the Royal Court stage this week in a North West premiere.

BOST (Birkenhead Operatic Society Trust) presents the all-singing, all-dancing version of Charles Dickens’ classic festive tale from November 7-10.

The cast of 70 – including 20 youngsters - will give five performances, including matinees on Saturday and Sunday.

A Christmas Carol – the musical follows the well-known story of Ebenezer Scrooge, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future - and of course not forgetting the Cratchit family and poor Tiny Tim.

It was written by Alan Menken whose other work includes Sister Act, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast, and was premiered at Madison Square Gardens in New York 25 years ago.

Previous professional Scrooges have included Warrington-born star Tim Curry, Roger Daltrey and Jim Dale, while Robert Lindsay played the role in the show’s 2016 West End debut.

Karen Partington, director of the BOST production, says: “Our 70 strong cast will be bringing this traditional festive tale to life in spectacular fashion.

“We’re excited to be using the theatre’s unique 9m revolving stage, and combined with our live band, big dance numbers and colourful costumes, the show promises to be a magical night out for all the family.”

A percentage of ticket sale income will be donated to Alder Hey to help towards buying a range of life-saving medical equipment and facilities for the children’s hospital.
