Six the Musical announces Liverpool Playhouse date

Olivier Award-nominated West End hit SIX the Musical is coming to Liverpool in 2020.

The show – which reimagines the life of Henry VIII’s six wives – will be at the Liverpool Playhouse from March 3-7.

Tickets are now on sale.

From Tudor queens to pop princesses, the three Catherines, two Annes and a Jane finally take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing 500 years of historical heartbreak in to an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power.

These queens may have green sleeves, but their lipstick is rebellious red.

The musical, presented as a pop concert and penned by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, was premiered by Cambridge University students at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017.

Since then it has been seen on tour, in the West End, and in North America and Australia. A Broadway show is due to open in February.

Gemma Bodinetz, artistic director at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Theatres, said: “I was invited to see SIX in the West End some months ago and I returned to Liverpool determined to bring it to the Playhouse.

"It's a sassy, joyful show with fabulous performances and music. I'm not surprised it's gone on to become an International hit. I'm really looking forward to seeing it again with a Liverpool audience.”
