Lightning Seeds to headline Birkenhead Park concert


The Lightning Seeds will headline a huge open-air gig in Birkenhead Park this summer.

The concert on Sunday, September 8 will also feature fellow Liverpool bands The Christians and China Crisis.

Both events form part of Wirral’s Borough of Culture Year programme.

The Wirral Food and Drink Festival will also take place in the historic park over the same weekend.

And the packed two days will be followed by the arrival of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain will come to Wirral for the first time on Wednesday, September 11 with the 108-mile stage starting and finishing in the park.

Cllr Christine Spriggs, Wirral Cabinet Member for Culture and Tourism, said: “We’re thrilled to bring Lightning Seeds, The Christians and China Crisis to Birkenhead Park this September. These incredible bands have collectively and individually helped shape the Merseyside music scene, producing classic hits of their own and working with incredible artists.

“Their instantly recognisable songs have been adored by music fans from across the globe and showcased the talent of our city region.

“It’s been an exciting year for Wirral as Liverpool City Region’s Borough of Culture. Wirral Council have developed a ground-breaking programme, featuring unmissable events like this.”

The Borough of Culture initiative was introduced by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and is designed to encourage cultural activities across the region.

Tickets for the September 8 concert are 17.50 with £15 concessions and £10 for youngsters aged six to 16, Under fives go free. All tickets are subject to booking fee. Book HERE
