Physical Fest reveals its 2019 festival programme

The UK’s only festival of physical theatre returns to the Liverpool stage next week.

Physical Fest will take place over six days from June 10-15 as a celebration of local, national and international contemporary physical work.

The city’s Tmesis Theatre is behind the event which includes performances, workshops, a conference and bursaries for the creation of new work.

This year’s Physical Fest includes performances by Herald Angel award winners Gandini Juggling (pictured above), Manchester-based Meraki Collective, Izumi Ashizawa, American Butt Kapinski and Liverpool's own Rowena Gander.

There will also be a new outdoor performance featuring a cast of 14 women from Tmesis Training Company - a professional performance project for emerging physical performers - entitled Wicked Women.

And in addition to the packed line-up of performances, Physical Fest will also feature a programme of workshops with practitioners from Japan, USA, Finland and the UK providing training on a variety of physical theatre disciplines, as well as giving attendees the chance to meet new people and see some incredible physical performance work up close.

The festival takes place at the Unity Theatre, along with the Capstone Theatre in Shaw Street and the Royal Albert Dock.

Physical Fest runs from June 10-15. For more details about the performances and to buy tickets, visit the website HERE
