Arrival of Little Boy Giant heralds start of Liverpool's Dream
Liverpool’s Giant Spectacular is live with the arrival of the first Giant and a couple of mysterious sights.
Passers by on The Strand this morning might have spotted a strange raft floating empty in the Canning Dock.
Meanwhile commuters stopped to look and take photographs after an Arriva bus appeared on the concourse outside Lime Street Station, sliced in two and with the handle of a huge butter knife protruding from its roof.
A few hundred feet away, a long queus started to form with people keen to catch their first glimpse of the Little Boy Giant, visiting Liverpool for the first time and tucked up in his pyjamas, asleep in a giant hammock inside St George’s Hall’s great hall.

Anyone who got close enough would be able to see him breathe gently in and out as the sounds of him sleeping softly echoed through the hall.
The grade I listed landmark is open to visitors until 11pm tonight, and there will be musical entertainment on the plateau outside from 7pm onwards.
Tomorrow the Little Boy will wake up and set off on a journey from the city centre to Prince’s Park, accompanied by the popular Mexican god dog Xolo, as the three day Liverpool’s Dream gets properly underway.
Over the Mersey in New Brighton, there will be more Giant action as Royal de Luxe’s 50ft Giant – last seen in Liverpool in 2012 – entertains what are expected to be huge crowds on the Wirral waterfront.
Many schools have given their pupils the chance of a day off to see the Giants, while hundreds of thousands of people are expected to take the chance to catch a glimpse of them walking the city’s streets between now and Sunday.
Liverpool’s Dream is the last time Royal de Luxe’s massive marionettes will be seen anywhere as they are being retired after this event.
