Falling Doors presents The Nether in Liverpool

The dark side of virtual reality will be explored in a production coming to the Hope Street Theatre this month.

Falling Doors Theatre presents Jennifer Haley’s The Nether from September 26-29.

Set in the near future, The Nether is a virtual wonderland providing total sensory immersion. But when a young Detective Morris investigates a realm called The Hideaway, and uncovers a disturbing brand of entertainment, she triggers an interrogation in to the darkest corners of the imagination.

Texan playwright Haley’s award-winning sci-fi crime drama received its UK premiere at London’s Royal Court in 2014, directed by Jeremy Herrin, with the production later transferring to the West End.

Liverpool’s Falling Doors Theatre was set up to work primarily with local actors and writers developing and staging both new writing and new plays.

The Nether follows previous productions Committed, performed at The Blade Factory in March, and Taking Care of Baby, as part of the Liverpool Fringe Festival. Kitty by Carol Maginn will be performed as part of the Liverpool Irish Festival next month.
