Boyzone to play Echo Arena as part of farewell tour


Boyzone are returning to Liverpool's Echo Arena for a special gig as part of their forthcoming farewell tour.

The Irish boyband will play at the venue on January 27 next year. Tickets cost £45.50/£53 and go on sale on June 22.

The tour, titled Thank You and Goodnight after the band’s new album which is due out in November, comes 25 years after Boyzone were formed in Dublin in 1993 by Louie Walsh.

Over the past quarter of a century they have enjoyed 21 UK chart hits, including six number ones, and nine number ones in Ireland.

And Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Mikey Graham will also pay a special tribute to fellow band member Stephen Gately, who died in 2009 at the age of 33, in the shape of a new song titled I Can Dream.

A statement from the band says: “The loss of Stephen left scars that we will carry as a band forever. We were immensely touched by all the tributes and messages of support that helped us through the dark days. Stephen was our brother and will always be at the very the heart of Boyzone.

“Twenty-five years is a long time. We’re certainly not boys anymore, and we all feel that we should now call time on our lives together as Boyzone and go out on a real high.”
