Brazilica brings carnival colour to Liverpool

Brazilica brings carnival colour to Liverpool city centre next week.

The city will resound to the samba beat as the annual celebration of all things Latin American returns.

And along with the spectacular carnival parade, there will also be pulsating rhythms on the Brazilica stage at the Pier Head on the Saturday of the carnival weekend.

Events also include the Brazilian Film Festival, returning for a fourth year, and the Festival Fringe, while Friday July 13 will be lucky for someone, with the carnival queen being crowned on the night ahead of the parade.

Acts taking to the waterfront stage between noon and 8pm on Saturday, July 14 include French/Brazilian jazz singer Agathe Irecema, The Fontanas, singer-songwriter Aleh Ferreira and percussion-driven electronic quartet Penya.

Maeve Morris of Liverpool Carnival Company said: “Last year’s festival was an explosion of colour, music and dance and was without doubt our best year to date, in what saw us celebrate our 10th year.

“And with 2018 marking the 10th anniversary of the city’s landmark Capital of Culture, we’re delighted to be a part of the cultural programme in what will be a sensational year for Liverpool.”

Brazilica takes place on Friday July 13 and Saturday July 14.
