Beauty and the Beast at the Black-E this Christmas

It’s a tale as old as time – and now it’s heading for Liverpool for the Christmas season.

The Black-E in Chinatown is being transformed in to an enchanted castle for a new adaptation of favourite fairytale Beauty and the Beast which promises to bring plenty of festive sparkle.

Tori Hargreaves leads the professional cast as Beauty, while Nick Langmead plays the Beast. And none other than Alan Stocks takes on the role of Beauty’s inventor father Egbert.

Fellow Royal Court regular Helen Carter has also joined the cast of this Drops of Light CIC production, playing Fairy Rose, while Ciaran Kellgren is Gorgeous Gaz, Adam McCoy is Basic Bertie, and Jamie Greer becomes Dame Dolly.

This adaptation of the story is penned by Jessica Lea (who writes for Hollyoaks and EastEnders among others – her children’s TV credits include Grange Hill and Tracy Beaker), and directed by Sam Donovan.

And there is also an original score by LIPA-trained musical director Henry Burnett.

Beauty and the Beast is at the Black-E from December 6-31. There is a relaxed performance on December 23. Tickets from the website HERE
