Flight of the Conchords new Echo Arena date

Cult musical comedy stars Flight of the Conchords will appear at the Echo Arena on June 25 in a show originally postponed because of injury.

The award-winning New Zealand duo were due to appear in Liverpool on April 1 as part of 20th anniversary celebrations.

But last autumn Bret McKenzie appeared on social media with his left arm in a cast and sling after falling down stairs and breaking two bones in his hand, apologising in a Tweet and saying: "I'm sorry not to be able to do these upcoming shows but I'm looking forward to coming back and finishing the tour when I have two fully functioning hands."

Now fans will be able to see the duo at the venue next Monday.

University flatmates McKenzie and Jermaine Clement formed Flight of the Conchords in 1998, after first performing with comedy troupe So You’re A Man in New Zealand’s capital Wellington.

Flight of the Conchords were nominated for a Perrier Award at Edinburgh in 2003, and won the best newcomer award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival the same year.

Over the past decade-and-a-half they have become regulars on radio and television, with shows on the BBC and HBO series One Night Stand and The Flight of the Conchords. They have also released records, and have separately taken roles in films including Men In Black 3, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

And they have also won a Grammy Award and New Zealand Music Awards.
