Liverpool date for Beautiful - the Carole King Musical

Acclaimed Broadway and West End hit Beautiful – the Carole King Musical is set to make its first visit to Liverpool next year.

The inaugural UK tour of the show, which tells the life story of the legendary American singer-songwriter, will come to the Empire in May.

Bronté Barbé, who was a finalist in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Over The Rainbow, is playing King in the touring version which opened at Bradford’s Alhambra theatre this month.

Beautiful follows the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history.

Expect to hear some of her biggest hits, including So Far Away, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, It Might As Well Rain Until September, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and I Feel the Earth Move.

Beautiful – the Carol King Musical, received its Broadway premiere in January 2014 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre where it continues to play to packed houses, and throughout 2015/2016 it toured the US. The London production ended its triumphant two-and-a-half-year run at the Aldwych in August, while there are also productions running in Tokyo and Australia.

The show is one of a number of new musicals being staged at the Empire over the next few months, starting with the world premiere of Cilla the Musical this week.

Others include Tim Firth's The Band, featuring the music of Take That, and An Officer and a Gentleman, based on the popular Richard Gere film.

Beautiful - the Carole King Musical is at the Liverpool Empire from May 1-5 2018. Tickets from the website HERE.
