He was one half of young sweethearts Scott and Charlene in Neighbours.
Then there was the pop career, the loincloth and Any Dream Will Do as he became Joseph of Technicolor Dreamcoat fame, and, in latter years, a string of stage roles in shows from Priscilla Queen of the Desert to Annie Get Your Gun.
In between, there were lots and lots of newspaper headlines.
Now Antipodean star Jason Donovan is going on the road to perform songs and talk candidly and amusingly about his life and career in a new UK tour – with two dates in Merseyside this month.
The 49-year-old actor and singer will appear at the Epstein Theatre on February 14 with Jason Donovan and His Amazing Midlife Crisis.
And if you miss him there, he’s also coming to the Floral Pavilion at New Brighton on February 28.
This autobiographical show will take Jason’s looming 50th birthday as its starting point and will zigzag back and forth through his life. Hear some new stories (and possibly one or two you’ve heard before) plus some of the songs you know and love.
