Chic and Nile Rodgers tickets go on sale at Echo Arena

CHIC and Nile Rodgers are headlining this year’s Liverpool Music Week – and tickets go on sale today.

The 70s disco funk icons will headline the opening party at the award-winning festival, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.

Tickets for the Echo Arena event go on sale at 9am.

Music fans can expect to hear all the band’s hits including Le Freak, Everybody Dance, I Want Your Love and Good Times.

And you can add in co-founder, guitarist, songwriter and producer Nile Rodgers’ huge catalogue of hits for other artists such as We Are Family (Sister Sledge), Upside Down and I’m Coming Out (Diana Ross) and Let’s Dance (produced for David Bowie).

Nile Rodgers formed Chic with bassist Bernard Edwards in 1976.

His work as a musical innovator has helped the stars he’s been involved with sell in excess of 200 million records, and this year Rodgers was inducted in to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, following his inclusion in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Dance Music Hall of Fame.

Festival Director Mike Deane said: "It's been quite the journey since starting Liverpool Music Week as a single venue venture back in 2003, but there’s no doubt that today is our single proudest moment as we announce CHIC & Nile Rodgers as our 2017 headliners.

“There aren't many individuals in music who compare to their legendary status, importance, and continued iconic relevance.

“We’re utterly thrilled both Nile and the band have agreed to join us this year. There really isn't a live music show quite like CHIC, and we can't think of anyone better to open this milestone year."

CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers play the Echo Arena on October 26. Tickets from the website HERE.
