Come Out of the Shadows for Liverpool Pride

Landmark Liverpool buildings are being lit in rainbow colours this week as part of the city’s Pride festival.

Come Out of the Shadows, launched on Thursday, aims to raise awareness of LGBT+ hate crimes and to showcase Liverpool as a visibly LGBT+ friendly city.

The overall aim is to make Liverpool a safer place for residents and visitors alike.

Among the Liverpool buildings being illuminated in the colours of the Pride rainbow flag are St George’s Hall, Liverpool Central Library, FACT, the Everyman and Royal Court theatres, Merseyside Police Headquarters, the ECHO arena and Pride sponsors Barclays Bank.

Liverpool Football Club is also backing the initiative once again after successfully lighting up the Kop in 2016.

And in the wider City Region, the Atkinson at Southport, Crosby Library, New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion, and the Steve Prescot Bridge in St Helens are among locations taking part.

Come Out of the Shadows goes live on July 20 and runs until July 30. Liverpool Pride takes place on July 29-30.
