LIPA actors strike the right note with Made in Dagenham

April 24, 2017

Back in 1968, Ford's Dagenham plant was brought to a standstill in a dispute that had widespread implications - and is still sadly relevant today.

The women machinists decided to strike for equal pay, and their stance attracted worldwide attention, eventually leading to the Equal Pay Act 1970.

Oh, and they were also supported by machinists at Ford's Halewood plant here in Liverpool, who also walked out in protest.

The story was made in to a hit film in 2010, and later became a West End musical, starring Gemma Arterton and with the story penned by Richard Bean (of One Man Two Guvnors fame) and with music by film and TV composer David Arnold.

Now LIPA's second year acting students are set to perform the musical in Liverpool this week.

Made in Dagenham is at the Paul McCartney Auditorium at LIPA from April 27-29 and tickets are £9/£4.50 concessions HERE.
