Southport Comedy Festival brings giggles to Victoria Park

Southport Comedy Festival is back with 17 days of laughter promised in its Victoria Park home.

This year’s event runs until October 15.

Among the funny men and women heading for the festival’s fully seated, carpeted and heated marquee are Gary Delaney, Jason Byrne, Mark Steel, Seann Walsh and Jen Brister.

There is also the return of the Southport New Comedian of the Year, and not one but two bingo nights – one raising money for the Community Link Foundation and a second 80s disco-themed event helping to support Southport Flower Show.

Tickets are selling fast with a few shows already sold out and with waiting lists.

The festival opens this evening with Big Comedy UK presenting Best of the Fest, featuring Mark Nelson, Nina Gilligan and Emmanuel Sonubi, and hosted by festival co-producer Brendan Riley.

Gary Delaney performs a sold-out show on Saturday 30, while Clinton Baptiste appears in the marquee on October 1 and Seann Walsh is Back from the Bed on October 3.

Jen Brister brings her The Optimist tour to Southport on October 4, Tom Davis appears on October 5, Jason Byrne on October 7 and Simon Brodkin is Screwed Up on October 8.

The comedy continues with the grand final of the Southport Comedian of the Year on October 10, while Jimeoin’s show on October 11 is currently sold out. Paul Sinha brings Pauly Bengali to the festival on October 12 and there’s An Evening and a Little Bit of the Morning with Mark Steel on October 13.

The festival concludes with Rich Hall – Shot From Cannons on October 15.

Southport Comedy Festival in association with Halliwell Jones runs from September 29 to October 15 at Victoria Park. Full details and tickets HERE
