Live Aid musical Just for One Day is set to come to the Liverpool Empire as part of an inaugural national tour.

The musical, written by John O’Farrell and directed by Luke Sheppard, will be staged at the Lime Street landmark from August 3-7, 2027.

Tickets go on pre-sale for ATG members tomorrow and on general sale this Thursday, March 26.

Just For One Day - The Live Aid Musical is the story behind the greatest concert in music history, and features hit songs by Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Who, U2, Queen, Madonna, The Police, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Diana Ross among others.

Live Aid, organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, was an unprecedented global music event that was watched by more than 160,000 people live at concerts in Wembley and Philadelphia, and another estimated 1.5 billion on television in July 1985.

Told from a modern-day perspective, the musical sees several characters gather to reflect on their memories and experiences of the historic event - and how it made them feel they could change the world.

Just for One Day was premiered at the Old Vic in 2024, where it became the theatre's fastest selling musical ever, and went on to enjoy its North American premiere in Toronto. It opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in the West End in May 2025, with a special gala performance on July 13 to mark 40 years since Live Aid itself.

Bob Geldof says: "Just For One Day brilliantly reimagines why Live Aid worked then and why the humanity of that day still matters now. I'm delighted that more of the UK and Ireland will finally get to see this extraordinary and compelling musical.

“The reaction the show gets continually surprises and amazes me, standing ovations and people come back time and again, introducing the Live Aid story to new generations."

The musical also supports the work of The Band Aid Charitable Trust, raising £1.6m to date.
