Imaginarium brings Shakespeare to Merseyside parks this summer

Imaginarium Theatre returns to Merseyside outdoor venues this summer after the pandemic led to its 2020 tour being cancelled.

The Prescot-based company will perform Shakespeare’s As You Like It in parks and gardens in Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral during July and August.

The production, which it last staged in 2016, opens at Prescot Woodland Theatre on July 3.

Liverpool venues are Woolton’s Reynolds Park on Sunday, July 4, Calderstones Mansion House on July 16, Croxteth Hall Walled Garden on July 24, and the grounds at Sudley House on August 14.

It will also tour to Crosby Hall, Halewood Triangle Park, St Helens’ Taylor Park, Royden Park in Wirral and Court Hey Park.

The show forms part of the company's outdoor summer creative communities programme in partnership with Shakespeare North Playhouse, supported by Arts Council England and Knowsley Council.

Imaginarium artistic director Gaynor La Rocca says: “After a difficult year full of lockdowns and staying indoors, we’re delighted to be welcoming people back to the Forest of Arden for this firm family favourite.

“As You Like It invites the audience to go on a journey of love, laughter and self-discovery, and its glorious pastoral setting is only made more stunning against the backdrop of some of the city regions most scenic parks and gardens.”

As You Like It is at various venues across Merseyside from July 3 to August 14. Full details and tickets from the website HERE
