David Morrissey to join Liverpool Everyman at 60 celebrations

Liverpool stage and screen star David Morrissey will talk about his acting career in a special ‘evening with’ at the Liverpool Everyman this autumn.

The event on October 24 is part of the Hope Street theatre’s 60th anniversary celebrations and will help to raise funds for talent development.

Morrissey, who was born the year the theatre first opened, was a teenage member of the Everyman’s Youth Theatre where he was inspired by director Roger Hill.

He returned to the Everyman stage in 2011 to play Macbeth in the final production before the old ‘Ev’ was razed and rebuilt, and is currently also a trustee for the Liverpool and Merseyside Theatres Trust which runs both the Everyman and Playhouse.

Morrissey will be in conversation with BBC Radio Merseyside’s Helen Jones, with tickets costing £30.

He said today: “I’m delighted to support the Everyman 60th birthday campaign. This theatre provided me and many others with the courage to follow our dreams and pursue a career in theatre and with our help can continue to do the same for many generations to come.”

And Everyman and Playhouse chief executive Mark Da Vanzo added: “David Morrissey's highly anticipated return to the Everyman stage for this very special event is a true homecoming.

“His phenomenal career began right here at the Everyman Youth Theatre and is a testament and encouragement to our theatre's values – inspiring generations and championing new talent.”
